When you support our Samaritan Spirit Gala, you are helping to heal emotional wounds by providing compassionate, affordable mental healthcare to people from all backgrounds, walks of life, and faiths.

Samaritan offers spiritually-integrated psychotherapy to people struggling with emotional, relational, and spiritual pain, regardless of their ability to pay. Each year, more than 1,200 Western Pennsylvania men, women, and children experience healing, hope, and life-changing growth at Samaritan. Keynote Speaker, Rev. Derek Davenport

Rev. Derek Davenport is the senior pastor of Sewickley Presbyterian Church. He will share with us his own insights on the life-transforming power of holistic counseling.

Since our humble beginnings over four decades ago, the Sewickley Presbyterian Church has been a faithful, generous partner. The church makes an annual gift at our Platinum Life Changers level, while many members of the congregation support us individually. Samaritan is deeply grateful to the session, staff, mission committee, and congregation members—including the late Nancy Hansen—for their efforts to accommodate Samaritan’s headquarters on the third floor of their Faith House building. Join us in honoring the Sewickley Presbyterian Church during the program portion of our event.

Musicians Bethany James and Mark Lucas

Bethany is a versatile singer/song writer who honed her craft as a session singer in Los Angeles, in Paramount Studios for Hanna Barbera, Disney and at Sound Lab as an in-house singer for many artists. As a member of many bands, she performed in Los Angeles clubs as well as casinos in Las Vegas and Reno.

Upon relocating to Pittsburgh, Bethany became integrated into the Pittsburgh jazz community, playing clubs throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York. She hosted a local jam session with her trio, "Bethany and Friends".

Bethany's soulful vocals have graced the albums of many independent artists, but her new album simply titled "Bethany" is her first album. Arranged and produced by Mark Lucas, it features an eclectic mix of genres with strong jazz influenced arrangements.

Mark Lucas is an American guitarist who has performed and recorded with Hendrick Muerkens, Richie Cole, Ron Carter, Victor Bailey, and others. He studied with jazz educators Charlie Banacos and Mick Goodrick when he lived in Boston. He released two solo guitar CDs; Myth and Feeling and Solo(s). Mark has done over 700 product videos from 2009-2016, when he worked for nstuffmusic. He has been a guitar instructor for over 30 years, and is active as a performer, session guitarist, and arranger.

Dinner and Program

Arrive at 6 o'clock to relax and unwind among your fellow guests during our cocktail hour. Taste a variety of warm and cold hors d'oeuvres, sip your favorite wine or cocktail, and be entertained by live musicians. Your gourmet dinner will be served at 7 in the Lemont's stunning banquet room offering a spectacular view of the city. Then, feel your spirit soar as you learn how your patronage impacts lives.
